Khloe Kares is a Charity Run by a Nine Year Old Girl

by Winita Frederick on Sep 7th, 2016

Nine-year-old Khloe Thompson lives in Los Angeles, CA where she distributes handmade toiletry bags to homeless women throughout her city. Her charity is aptly named Khloe Kares, and she wants us all to know this: “Don't let your age stop you from doing what you want to do.”

Los Angeles has one of the largest chronic homeless populations in the nation. Instead of shrugging this fact off, Khloe decided to make a difference in her own way.

Khloe was inspired to help others when she noticed homeless people on the street on her way to school. The Kare bags she distributes are handmade by Khloe and her grandmother. They include supplies like deodorant, soap, and toothpaste.

Her favorite part of making the bags is spending time with her grandma. “It’s our bonding time,” Khloe said. And her favorite part about distributing the bags is getting to see the smile on someone’s face.

Khloe’s ambitions for her charity go beyond distributing Kare bags, though. This past July, Khloe held a toy drive in Huntington Beach. In addition to donating new toys to all of the kids, she got Zappos.com to donate new shoes to all of the kids.
