Dilly and Friends Lapbooks
by Robert-Leslie Publishing
Young investigators discover their love of learning as they develop social and emotional skills through the seven Dilly and Friends® Lapbooks. Children ask to hear and read these beautifully illustrated bedtime stories over and over again. Each of the InvestiGator Club® characters has strengths and weaknesses that make him or her unique. JT is shy; Manny loves sports; Rosalita is a whiz with technology; Great Auntie Lu is an artist. Children find a little bit of themselves in each character, and they quickly relate to the important life lessons that the characters explore in every book: Don’t give up; believe in yourself; look out for your friends. These stories provide context and build bridges to the real world and children’s own experiences. Each book begins with “Let’s get ready to read!” questions that build background and access children’s prior knowledge, along with “Fabulous Words,” introduced in the book. After reading, children are again engaged in conversation, with “Let’s talk about the book.” Creative ideas for further investigation and activities are also provided at the end of the book. Since all of the questions, vocabulary, and activities appear in the book, it is not necessary for parents or teachers to refer to a separate guide.
